Classroom Management
Our kindergarten class will be using Class DoJo for behavior. Every Monday your child will begin with 0 green dojos and red dojos. As the day and week progresses, your child will be able to gain green dojos or (hopefully no) red dojos according to the choices he makes that day. (i.e. Green dojos are good points and red dojos are misbehaving points)
If your child ends the day with 5 red dojos, you will receive an email/call home from me explaining your child’s choices, how it was resolved at school and how we can help her be more successful.
On Friday I will have a summary report of the week on each student and how many green dojos they received. If they have 10 green dojos, they may pick one thing from the treasure box. If they have 15 green dojos, they will eat lunch with Ms. Goodman.
A green dojo is earned by listening ears, kind words and actions, quiet mouths and manners. If your child has a red dojo, there are always opportunities to earn green dojos and turn their day around.
Please ask your child about his choices and what he could do better, and/or celebrate with him, the wise choices and amount of green dojos she earned that day.
I’m looking forward to the progression that each child will make this year in recognizing and taking responsibility for their own choices. Thank you ahead of time for joining me in this endeavor. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Sincerely, Ms. Goodman
Everyone starts at 0 on Mondays
3 red dojos= consequence/ redirection
5 red dojos= call home
Fridays: 10 green dojos= treasure box
15 green dojos= lunch outside with Ms. Goodman
I strongly believe in positive reinforcement. All students will be rewarded for using appropriate behavior. Such rewards include:
1. Verbal praise/special privilege
2. Treasure Box on Fridays
3. Lunch with the teacher
4. Encouraging notes or a call home
